Description

OSEAN AIR DEFENCE FORCE
4TH AIR DIVISION / 9TH RECONNAISSANCE WING / 7TH RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON

'VALIANT SENTINELS'

AIRCRAFT: x8 RF-4E PHANTOM II, x3 RQ-4 GLOBAL HAWK
CALLSIGN: SENTINEL 1-8, OVERWATCH 1-3

The 7th Reconnaissance Squadron was formed in 1971 as the 7th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron during the height of the Cold War between The Union of Yuktobanian Republics and the Osean Federation, first flying the SR-71 Blackbird in response to the numerous Yuktobanian MiG-25 Foxbat flights over Osean airspace, making many key flights without losing any aircraft to any attempted interception by Yuke anti-aircraft defences.

The 7th would soon begin flights over Belkan Airspace in 1989, where in December 17th, an SR-71 of the squadron captured several photos of the initial construction site of the Belkan Excalibur Chemical Laser Weapon. However, this was assumed by the Osean Intelligence community to be just a regular military base and further reconnaissance missions over the site were never approved due to anti-aircraft technology quickly catching up to the SR-71, thus resulting in Osean Military leaders never finding out about the true potential of the Excalibur.

At the beginning of the Belkan War, the 7th was reformed into the 7th Reconnaissance Squadron and transitioned into RF-4E Phantom IIs for tactical reconnaissance flights throughout the Belkan War and after the events of Operation Dynamo, flew recce missions to search for the laser weapon deployed by the Belkans against the Ailled forces and after losing 3 RF-4Es, finally found the location of the laser, leading up to Operation Judgement, where the Ustian Air Force 4th AFU 'Crow' and 66th AFU 'Galm' succeeded in destroying the Excalibur.
